Zero Waste Manufacturing
Hill Country Bakery will continue to strive towards avoiding, reducing, reusing, recycling, recovery, and treating waste to reduce the amount of waste disposed of in our landfills.

  • Hill Country Bakery has a strict Environmental Policy Mission Statement
  • Partnered with other industry leaders to handle waste and recyclables
  • Working with an industry leader to make all solid waste that is not currently recyclable into pelletized fuel
  • 90% of our wastewater is currently reusable
  • 100% of our organic waste goes to local farms for compost and feeding livestock
  • Defective metal bakeware is recycled locally
Carbon and Enery Reduction
  • Spiral Freezing Systems are 50% more energy effecient than current industry standards
  • Facility renovations and updates to reduce energy usage:
    • Tinted, double-pane windows in production facilities
    • Environmental, temperature controlled air conditioning, using outside filtered air when indoor temperatures drop below set-point
    • Relamped production facilities and distribution center with energy saving bulbs and ballasts
    • Production facilities equipped with energy effecient lighting, reducing output to 40% during periods of the day
