Quality is our most important ingredient and the cornerstone of our success. Our goal is to make the best bakery products possible, and that begins by using the best ingredients available. Every ingredient used in Hill Country products meets our strict guidelines. Having worked with us for many years, our suppliers know the importance we place on quality.
From berries to flour and all other ingredients, everything we use is certified and meets our stringent requirements for flavor, baking properties, and food safety. Not only do we use excellent ingredients, but we are also brand specific, ensuring that we have the same quality ingredients every time we produce our products.
We keep our quality high by constantly looking at our products and testing them for consistency and desired attributes to insure that they meet our standards—and those of our Client Partners.
Freshness is a key factor in quality. For example, we only use fresh pasteurized whole eggs—never powdered eggs, even though those are much easier to store, buy, and handle. Why? Because you (and your customers) can taste the difference between cakes that have been made with fresh whole eggs and those that have not.
Another example of how fresh ingredients lead to quality (and great taste!): our Zucchini Loaf and Carrot Cake. In addition to great ingredients, our zucchini and carrots are shredded only hours before they are baked into the cake—just like you would do in your kitchen at home. That freshness is wonderfully apparent when you bite into them. We could buy frozen zucchini or carrots, or shred them days in advance … but then you wouldn’t be getting the best product that we could make—and that’s all we make!
